Remove Blank Pages From PDF — Frequently Asked Questions

How does blank-page detection work?

Each page is rendered to a low-resolution bitmap and the non-white pixels are counted. If the fraction of non-white pixels falls below the sensitivity threshold, the page is flagged as blank. Nothing is uploaded — the entire scan runs in your browser.

What does the sensitivity slider do?

Lower sensitivity only flags pages that are almost perfectly empty. Higher sensitivity is more aggressive and will flag pages with small amounts of noise, faint scan marks, or very light content. Start at the default and increase only if a page you expected to be blank was missed.

Can I recover a page I removed by mistake?

Not from the cleaned output — it contains only the pages you kept. Your original file on disk is not modified, so re-upload the original if you need to adjust and re-run the tool.

Why didn't it flag my blank-looking page?

Pages with page numbers, headers, footers, or watermarks contain ink and aren't truly blank. Raise the sensitivity to include them, but review the preview carefully — higher sensitivity can also flag content you want to keep.
